Harvard

Tailgaters at Harvard enjoy a rich Ivy League tradition of  football success and a beautiful campus setting.

Founded 16 years after the Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock, Harvard University, celebrated its 350th anniversary in 1986.  Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States and is located just west of downtown Boston, in Cambridge.

Ivy Yard (part of Harvard Yard): several freshman dorms surround this grassy area while John Harvard (statue of), who was a significant person in the founding of Harvard, sits in the middle of Harvard Yard.

All of the major ceremonies are conducted in the vicinity of Ceremony Steps, including commencement and freshman induction.  The Church stands adjacent to Harvard Yard.

America's first concrete and steel stadium overlooks the Charles River.

Crimson was officially designated as Harvard's color by a vote of the Harvard Corporation in 1910.  The students selected Crimson in 1875.

The school mascot is John Harvard, a pilgrim-like figure in 17th-century dress.
